Fourteen floats, bought jointly by KNMI and the European Commission through the MOCCA project, were deployed in the south Atlantic Ocean.

Trajectories of the Dutch floats launched in 2016/2017 in the southern Atlantic Ocean. Most of the floats were deployed near the southern tip of South America. Of these, some were caught by the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC), which carried them rapidly eastward. Two of them are now (June 2023) close to Australia. Some others entered the Zapiola (or Argentine) Gyre, a large ocean gyre north of the Falkland Islands. Four floats were deployed in the central South Atlantic, north of 30ºS. Here currents are slow and predominantly directed north-westward, towards Brazil.
